Castlemaine Circus has created an exciting space where participants can have fun, challenge themselves physically and mentally and take safe risks. The environment is welcoming, positive and open to all ages.  Our circus provides social and emotional development where participants can build their confidence, creative expression and work together with the class.

We encourage doing more than one class, so we offer a 30% discount for enrolment in a second class, 50% discount for a third class and a 10% discount for siblings/families.

Location: The Goods Shed, Kennedy St, Castlemaine (next to the Castlemaine Train Station).

Monday

Parkour 5-8 Years

Time: Monday 4.00 – 5.00pm
Trainers: Flynn Patrao and Cameron MacLeman
Cost: $170 (10 weeks)
Description:
Parkour is a discipline in which practitioners (Traceurs) train to adapt their movements to efficiently overcome obstacles in their environment.
Free Running is a related discipline in which the practitioner seeks out artistic and expressive ways of interacting with obstacles while moving through an environment.
This class teaches both Parkour and Freerunning, combining efficient movements such as vaulting, rolling, climbing and leaping with expressive movements like flips, saults, spins and twists. Students will improve their strength, agility, balance and coordination as they learn to traverse their environments and overcome physical and mental barriers.

Circus for Preschoolers

Description:
Let your little ones bounce, balance and learn the foundations of circus skills with experienced instructors in a fun, creative and safe group environment.  Explore the circus equipment – silks, trampete, beam, vault and learn the beginnings of forward rolls, landings, balancing, juggling as well as following instruction, working in groups and playing creative games. Your little one will grow in confidence as they improve their coordination, balance, flexibility and strength. All circus activities are done in a supportive, structured setting. The class is perfect for children who are comfortable about being independent in class. Ages 3 – 5.

This class will take a focused approach on strength, balance,  flexibility and conditioning to support the circus skills that are grounded in gymnastic technique.  This class is great for beginners but we teach to all levels. Students will be developing skills on the floor, beam, aerial and mini tramp. The class will engage a variety of circus and gymnastics skills with a focus on fun.

Mixed aerials with Castlemaine Circus will focus on the four most popular aerial apparatus- aerial hoop, static trapeze, rope and silks. Participants will learn comprehensive aerial specific conditioning techniques and basic skills on all apparatus. Suitable for ages 11+ years and Adults.

Aerial Adults – Silks and Trapeze

Time: Wednesdays 7.00 – 8.30pm

Description:

An excellent class for Adults – beginners and more experienced alike. This class is suitable for all those people that are curious to explore a new dimension: the air. You will be surprised to know how and how much a body can move by changing the base of support it uses and its points of balance.

The beginners will learn the basics of aerial silks and trapeze technique. More advanced will be provided with the fundamentals required to develop a different and contemporary style of aerial training, not concentrated only on the beauty of a body and a static shape but especially on the possibilities of movement from a shape to another and the dynamic connections between them. This is the reason why the class is enjoyable also for men.
This is a small specialised class for beginners and experienced practitioners.

Thursday

Little Circus 

Time: Thursday 9.30  – 10.20am

Description:
Our newest class for our youngest circus stars. This class requires a parent or carer to participate in the class. Our trainers will lead the class and grown ups will be actively involved in supporting your little one to learn balance, explore new equipment and learn the foundations of circus skills in a safe group environment.  Ages 1.5 – 3.

Elements of the class include building upper body and core strength, improving flexibility and agility and improving confidence, control and awareness of your body. Participants will develop choreographed movements on a favourite aerial apparatus throughout the year. Suitable for ages 10+ years – teens.
